It has been discovered that the private details of 669 million people living in 24 Indian states and eight metropolitan cities have been exposed. The Cyberabad Police have arrested a suspect who is believed to be responsible for stealing, retaining and selling this information. The data was organized into 104 categories and it was allegedly being sold through cloud-based services via a website named InspireWebz in Faridabad, Haryana.

The accused, Vinay Bharadwaj, is said to have possessed a vast amount of personal information. According to a police statement, Bharadwaj had access to the private data of students from educational technology organizations, customers of major corporations, transportation departments from different states, prominent e-commerce sites, social media platforms, and fintech firms. Moreover, the suspect had access to sensitive information such as the personal details of military personnel, government employees, PAN card holders, students from 9th to 12th grade, senior citizens, Delhi electricity consumers, Demat account holders, mobile phone numbers, NEET students, high net worth individuals, insurance policyholders, and credit and debit card holders.

This is a severe breach of personal data and could potentially lead to various types of fraud and identity theft. The Cyberabad Police is investigating the incident, and it is crucial that those affected take the necessary steps to protect themselves from potential harm.
