'Prasanna Vadanam' Short Review: Illogical, overrated!

At the trailer launch event of 'Prasanna Vadanam', director Sukumar said that the film was so logically tight that he couldn't find a single flaw in it. The male lead, played by Suhas, suffers from face blindness. As a result, the protagonist can't depict his disability convincingly in one scene and then behave as if it doesn't exist in another. When Sukumar praised the film, he was talking about such consistency. He praised the movie because it has been directed by his protege, debutant Arjun YK.

To be sure, the film is not without its unfair share of lazy writing choices. The police department is dismally inept in 'Prasanna Vadanam'; the cops are unable to nab an ordinary suspect. Suhas' character appears to be more skilled in utilizing technology compared to the police themselves.

The climax lacks credibility, with the antagonist's actions being so convoluted that it requires a suspension of disbelief.

Our filmmakers need to really pull up their socks. Just because your protagonist has a disability or a flaw, the audience don't forgive glaringly silly writing.

The film could find takers when it comes out on OTT, though.
