For a long time, there has been a demand from journalists to grant housing plots and once it was realized during YSR's tenure. Right from the time Telangana was created, the journalists of Telangana who were at the forefront of separate state agitation have been requesting the KCR government to give them housing plots.
Earlier this was announced but quickly it was mired in legal issues at the court and there has been no much movement over the last few years. With the elections around the corner, there has been a talk that a boon would be given for Telangana's journalists.
KCR has always openly declared that their role has been indispensable in the statehood movement and hence there is an expectation that the chief minister may be quite liberal in granting them their long pending wish. If it happens, it would create a nice goodwill before the crucial election season among those who matter the most in print and electronic media.
