Movie Review: LGM- Boring and dragged family drama

LGM is a romantic drama that stars Harish Kalyan, Ivana, and Nadia in lead roles. The film is produced by Dhoni Entertainment and has released in Telugu with the same title. Read our review here.

Plot

Gowtham(Harish Kalyan) and Meera(Ivana) are a couple who work together and have been dating for more than two years. When Gowtham proposes to Meera, she says yes, but she has a condition. She wants to spend some time with Gowtham's mother, Nadiya, to understand her better before they get married. Gowtham agrees and plans a trip to a place called Coorg. He hopes that his mother and Meera will become friends during their stay there. However, things might not go smoothly. Meera and Nadiya had an awkward incident before. How will all this be fixed is the story of LGM.

Performances

Harish Kalyan looks good, but his acting isn't great. In the movie, he seems confused. Ivana was impressive in a previous movie called "Love Today," but her performance here isn't good either. Nadiya is the only good thing in the movie. She plays the role of Gowtham's mother and tries her best to make the movie watchable. Yogi Babu's comedy is not funny this time.

Technicalities

The songs in the movie, made by the director, are really bad. Songs are important in romantic comedies, but the music here is not good. The way the movie is filmed is just okay. No one from the technical team stands out. Basically, the story does not seem mature and has been showcased in so many films already. The locations and production values are okay. The editing is decent but the dialogues in Telugu are not up to the mark.

What's Good

In the movie Bommarillu, when the female lead stays with the male lead's family for a week, it was interesting and connected with families. Almost 18 years after that movie, "LGM (Let's Get Married)" tries to do something similar that families might like.

The manner in which the key plot heads to a hill station and tensions build have been showcased in an endearing manner and there are a few moments of decency in the film.

The main idea is that the girl wants to spend time with her future mother-in-law to see if they will get along which sounds very good.

What's Bad

It's easy to see that the director, Ramesh Tamilamani, who wrote the story, directed the movie, and even made the music, doesn't know how to tell a good story. The movie doesn't move forward in a good way. The direction is not very good.

None of the scenes in the movie feel real. The office scenes of the main characters look more like a college than an actual office. The funny scenes with the hero's friends are not funny.

Because of trying too hard to be funny and not feeling real, the movie becomes boring. A bus ride from one place to another that takes about 30 minutes is shown in the movie and it tests our patience.

Even in the second half of the movie, the parts with Nadiya and Ivana don't add much. Another unrealistic part is the fight with a tiger towards the end.

Vox Verdict

It's sad that Dhoni's wife chose such a boring and not-so-good romantic movie for her first production. The film has an outdated approach and the comedy looks forced in many scenes. For the Telugu audience, this film is like a massive bouncer and will be rejected by the audience at the theaters.
