Samajavaragamana Review: A simple and funny family drama

Samajavaragamana has been a film that has been promoted a lot in the last few days. The film starring Sree Vishnu, Naresh, and Reba Monica John has been released today. Read our review here.

Plot

Balu(Sree Vishnu) lives with his family and is a simple middle-class boy who wants his father to finish his graduation at any cost. At such a time, he falls in love with Sarayu(Reba Monica John) and visits her hometown for a wedding. There, Balu is forced to understand that Sarayu is his first cousin and is like a sister in real life. Everyone starts calling them siblings. Are Balau and Sarayu really siblings? and if they are how will Balu solve his issues? That forms the story.

Performances

Samajavaragamana works mainly because of the performances in the film. Sree Vishnu leads from the front and gives a superb performance. His dialogue delivery is crazy and he evokes solid laughs with his antics in the film. Naresh is also one of the mainstays in the film and his role will bring an instant smile to your face. He as a desperate student sets the stage on fire as scenes between Naresh and Sree Vishnu are hilarious, to say the least. Reba Monica is also lovely in her role and does well in her first film.

Technical Aspects

As said earlier, Samajavaragamana is best when it comes to dialogues. The film has great dialogues and the way the tongue-in-cheek humor has been used is quite good. The production values are neat and the music is also decent. Editing is great and the backdrop looks a bit weird in the second half of the film. The lyrics are nice and so was the camerawork showcasing the middle-class set up.

Merits

Sree Vishnu's track with his father played by Naresh is one of the best episodes in the film. Most of the first half is filled with scenes that entertain.

Naresh's performance throughout the film is great. The characterization is fresh and gives the family audience a lot of enjoyable moments in the film.

Vennela Kishore's role is very good toward the end though it is loud. The chemistry between the lead pair and the entire angle of a hero trying to tie a Rakhi to all the girls who love him is good.

Samajavaragama has clean comedy and there are not many boring scenes. The dialogues are the best and the supporting cast does a great job in holding the film well.

De-Merits

The story of the film is nothing new and the film has a predictable premise and the twist that is justified is also predictable for the most part.

The second half has a few repeated scenes and this creates a lag in the proceedings. The family drama looks a bit over the top in the second half.

The lead pair being called siblings for the most part looks weird. The director should have avoided this aspect once the conflict is registered with the audience.

Vox Verdict

It has been quite a long time since a clean comedy film that could be watched with the entire family has come out. Samajavaragama is that film where you leave your tensin behind and just enjoy the simple and breezy proceedings.
