Hyderabad is known for its low voter turnout in elections. Now, With the parliamentary elections in the state of Telangana are nearing, the residents of Hyderabad are prepping up for the polling. From using social media to posting selfies in residential groups, this resident welfare association is trying hard to increase the voting percentage. United Federation of Resident Welfare Association (U-FERWAS) is actively conducting voter awareness programmes, so that every voter knows the value of vote and they would exercise the same when the polling day arrives.

Recently, the U-FERWAS has requested its member resident welfare associations to do some of the activities that would help in this election season.

Speaking in this regard, B T Srinivas, General Secretary, U-FERWAS, said that they are also using social media to increase voting percentage. In one of the instructions, it said, “Use Colony association social media more number of times to push voting percentage. On polling day, request each voter to throw a Selfie Challenge to others after posting your picture in a WhatsApp group or as a personal message.”
