National Conference, PDP want Article 370 back: 'Congress has no problem'

Ahead of the J&K's Assembly elections, both National Conference and the PDP have promised to work towards the restoration of Article 370. The contentious Article was abrogated through a Constitutional Amendment Act initiated by the Narendra Modi government in 2019.

Congress, which has never promised to revive the Article vocally, is tacitly silent on the promise made by the NC and PDP. Speaking to the media, former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah said that his alliance partner, the Congress, has no issues whatsoever with his party's poll promise.

The BJP is now upping the ante. The saffron party today said that the Congress has no problem with doing trade with Pakistan, and "ending reservation rights for women, Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwalas and Pahadi communities in J&K", which is what the restoration of Article 370 will ensure.

"The restoration of Article 370 will push J & K back into turmoil. Congress is gradually unfolding its agenda for Kashmir: Anti-development, Anti-Hindu, Anti-ST/SCs, and Pro- Pakistan. This is not surprising, given their similar tactics in previous elections," wrote G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister For Coal and Mines.
