Krystyna Pyszkova, a supermodel from the Czech Republic, has won the coveted Miss World 2024 title. This year's pageant was held in Mumbai. Miss Lebanon Yasmina Zaytoun was named the first runner-up.
India had a poor show this time. The first seven positions were occupied by others. Sini Shetty, who represented India, came at 8.
The first words of the trophy winner are these: "I can't be happier as I am standing here to share my emotions. I am super excited. Miss World was something I was working on for so long."
Fun Facts: This is the first Miss World pageant to be held in India after a gap of 24 years. Reita Faria Powell (1966), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017; she was recently seen in 'Operation Valentine') are the only Indian women to win Miss World titles so far.
In recent years, Miss World pageants have lost their sheen. Not many are even aware that the pageant was held this year in Mumbai!
