Top BJP leaders in 2014 Vs Top brass in 2024: Shocking contrast

In 2014, the BJP top brass comprised Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, late Sushma Swaraj, late Arun Jaitley, and the outgoing LK Advani, who was reduced to the position of a mere adviser with no say in party matters. The ascension of Modi and Amit Shah meant that Advani, Yashwanth Sinha and other leaders of the Vajpayee era had no power in the BJP. Then Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, then Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje and then Chhatisgarh CM Raman Singh were also prominent leaders. In a way, late Manohar Parrikar was also powerful.

Cut to 2024 (we are almost there), none barring Modi, Shah and Rajnath Singh matter in the BJP. Three of the old leaders (read Jaitley, Swara and Parrikar) are no more.

And, after the recent Assembly election victories, Raje, Chauhan and Singh have been shown the door and new CMs have been installed.

It is speculated that Chauhan will be made a Union Minister if the NDA government returns to power after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In that case, he will continue to be in the top brass with lesser stature and powers.

The Modi-Shah duo have changed the face of the BJP completely.
