BJP national leadership took a sensational decision to change the leadership in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Just a few months before the elections, the change in guard came as a surprise for everyone. While the change of guard in AP was never expected, the change of guard in Telangana was expected a little as the infighting started getting out of control after the loss in the Karnataka assembly elections.
Now the question is will, a change of guard in Telangana BJP bring a change in fortunes? It is known that BJP replaced aggressive leaders like Bandi Sanjay with mild and soft Kishan Reddy. Analysts say the forced decision by the central leadership may not yield the desired results.
Political analysts said “The BJP was nowhere in the state before Sanjay became the party President. He was a street fighter and the party gained momentum under his leadership,” He said though almost all the senior leaders like Kishan Reddy, worked as the state president, they failed to turn BJP into the powerhouse as did by Bandi Sajay. He said this decision will affect the morale of the supporters of Bandi Sanjay. He said “None of the state BJP presidents could create the kind of momentum which Bandi Sanjay created,” He pointed It was under his leadership that the party won two Assembly by-elections and replaced Congress as the main opposition party in 2020.
Analysts point out saying "A strong Hindutva supporter and a bitter critic of Chief Minister KCR and his family, Sanjay, with his aggressive style, built the BJP. The same year, the BJP shocked the TRS by wresting the Dubbaka Assembly seat in the by-elections. This was followed by the party’s impressive show in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections as it improved its tally in the 150-member civic body to 48 from just four earlier. The party emerged as the main challenge to the ruling BRS and it started projecting itself as the only viable alternative to KCR's party." It was under Bandi Sanjay's leadership, Eatela Rajender quit the BRS and won from Huzurabad byelections and giving a shock to the CM KCR.
