Following the conclusion of elections in Andhra Pradesh, certain districts have witnessed heightened tensions, prompting the Central Election Commission to take action. Amid these developments, the Election Commission has appointed new police chiefs for the three districts. Mallika Garg will take charge in Palnadu district, Harshavardhan in Tirupati district, and Gautami Shali in Anantapur district.
Earlier, the Election Commission has reprimanded Superintendents of Police (SPs) from Palnadu, Tirupati, and Anantapur districts, along with several senior police officials, for their handling of post-election situations.
In response to the escalating situation, the Election Commission has also summoned the Chief Secretary (CS) and Director General of Police (DGP) of the state to Delhi, seeking a comprehensive report on the state of affairs in Andhra Pradesh.
