Although younger than Chandrababu Naidu, AP CM and YSRCP supremo Jagan Mohan Reddy is giving sleepless nights to the TDP boss. Jagan already counts on the support of SC’s, ST’s and minorities.
One big asset of TDP all these years has been BC’s, who account for nearly 50 percent of AP’s electorate. This is what brought good vote share for TDP even in 2019 elections, to the tune of 39 percent.
The upcoming 2024 elections is expected to be a tough contest between TDP and Jagan. Jagan has clearly upped the ante these days and has openly challenged TDP that with BC’s now moving closer to his party, TDP will be easily defeated next year and completely eradicated from the political arena. If TDP really loses even half of BC vote share, the party can never come to power and this is clearly a nightmare to Chandrababu.
