For the last eight years, owing to the brilliant acumen of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, BJP has been simply unstoppable in its march to power and glory not only in India, but across several states in our country. The duo has become invincible and today the party is clearly unrivalled in terms of muscle power and political strength across the length and breadth of the country.

Several opposition leaders have time and again come together to stitch an alternative but they have failed to provide an alternative narrative to the people in this country. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi took up Bharat Jodo Yathra and has been trying his best. Today has definitely something to cheer for anti-BJP forces in the country.

Aam Aadmi Party’s success in MCD polls of New Delhi where the party defeated BJP is being celebrated by the entire opposition. AAP had only defeated incumbent congress governments in the past, including in the recent polls of Punjab. But for the first time AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal defeated the BJP, ending its iron grip on

Delhi’s local body for more than 15 years.

BJP always won the polls in the last decades even when there was a Congress government in Delhi. BJP has many pluses and misses over the last year and many opposing forces have more or less given up their fight, sensing that they are no match to the saffron juggernaut.

However, in recent times K Chandrashekar Rao from South has been doing his best in countering the BJP with his aggressive attacks. Still the BJP is growing as a force in Telangana too. However, the AAP victory in Delhi has one clear message – defeating BJP is challenging but not impossible. The BJP still managed to get about 104 seats while AAP won more than 130 seats. The Congress ended up in single digit with a mere 9 seats.

The rise of AAP is a threat to the BJP in case Kejriwal is able to provide an alternative to PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. It is now up to the other opposition forces like Congress, TMC, NCP, etc., to gain confidence in themselves and come out with sound strategies rather than mere hollow cries if they really want to see the BJP lose sooner or later. As AAP has proved, it may not be impossible provided the parties appeal to the people convincingly.
