The upcoming Karnataka assembly elections are seeing a lot of effort from the BJP to win. The party has been relying on the star power of local heroes to gain sympathy and support. One such hero, Kiccha Sudeep, has recently agreed to campaign for the party along with CM Basavaraju Bommai, whom he considers his godfather. However, Sudeep has made it clear that he will not be joining the BJP or contesting in the elections, only campaigning.
Due to his support for the BJP, Sudeep has received threatening letters from unknown sources. The letters reportedly blackmailed him, threatening to leak his personal videos if he joined the party. Sudeep reported the matter to the police, and a case was registered by the Puttenahalli police in Bengaluru.
Taking the threat seriously, CM Basavaraj Bommai has handed over the case to the Bangalore City Crime Branch for investigation. There is suspicion that Sudeep's former car driver, who was recently fired, may be behind the threats. Sudeep's close friends have expressed this suspicion to the police, stating that the former driver may have blackmailed Sudeep out of anger over losing his job.
During the police investigation, the former car driver's phone was found to be switched off. The CCB police are now searching for him. It remains to be seen if other car drivers who chose not to join the BJP are involved in the threats as well.
Overall, the threatening incident highlights the potentially dangerous consequences of mixing politics and entertainment in India. It is important for all individuals, including celebrities and politicians, to be aware of the risks and take appropriate measures to ensure their safety and privacy.
