JD Vance has been chosen by Donald J Trump as his running mate at the Republican National Convention. He will become the Vice-President of the US if things go his way.
Interestingly, Vance's wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, is an Indian-American. She is a lawyer who grew up in San Diego. "A child of immigrants from India, she holds degrees from Yale, Yale Law (where she met Vance and was an editor at the Yale Law review), and Cambridge University. She clerked for Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr at the Supreme Court. She works as a litigator in the Washington, D.C. office of Munger, Tolles & Olson," wrote a social media user in the know of Usha's history.
The glee among Indians on social media is there for all to see. "Whoever wins the US presidency, we will have an Indian-American woman a heartbeat away from the White House. Meet Usha Chilukuri Vance," wrote Channa Prakash.
Vance and Usha are blessed with three kids: sons Ewan Blaine (born 2017) and Vivek (born 2019), and daughter Mirabel (born December 2021). "Usha has been described as JD's closest confidant and an integral part of his political rise, including his successful 2022 Senate campaign. She frequently joins him on the campaign trail," wrote KBS Sidhu.
