'Vyooham' and 'Sapatham' are based on the incidents that have happened in the context of the rise of AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy. These films span a period of more than ten years, starting somewhere in 2009.
Both are directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The films will hit the screens on February 23 ('Vyooham') and March 1 ('Sapatham'). The short gap is in view of the continuity of the stories of the two films.
Speaking today at a press meet in Hyderabad, RGV said, "Nara Lokesh is the only person I have to thank for the release of these two movies. I and producer Dasari Kiran Kumar wanted to release these movies in December. Lokesh moved the court and blocked the release of our films. That way, Lokesh indirectly helped us to release our two films right before the election season."
The controversial director further said, "If these two movies had been released in December, they wouldn't have been fresh in the minds of people. As I have said before, someone can stop the release of any movie for some years but cannot do so forever. Those who like to, will watch both movies. If you don't like it, don't watch them. As simple as that."
RGV opined that the Censor Board system is dated. "They have objections to any and every story. Some scenes were removed from these movies based on the objections raised by them. However, the emotional content of the story has been retained. We have certain opinions about all individuals in public life. These films are based on my understanding of what went behind some real events. I cannot say what kind of effect these movies will have on the public. According to Article 19 of the Indian Constitution, every filmmaker has the freedom to film the actual events from his perspective. From the death of YS Rajasekhar Reddy garu to the swearing-in of YS Jagan as CM, the story of 'Vyooham' will be detailed. I made this film not for Jagan but for Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu," Varma said.
Producer Dasari Kiran Kumar said, "We think that God has made everything fall in place for the release of our movies. 'Vyooham' and 'Sapatham' are going to be released in around 500 theaters in the Telugu States. Both movies are guaranteed to be successful at the Box-Office. Elections are approaching. Nara Lokesh left all the party programs and complained to the courts and the CBFC against our two films. He staged sit-ins on the roads. The fact that he fought so much against our films proves that the content of these movies is very strong."
