With a section of the Telugu media turning hostile during the QnA sessions at pressers, it seems some Telugu cinema heroes and filmmakers are increasingly inclined to encourage new-age YouTubers.
The other day, the promo of an interview of Natural Star Nani with Praneeth Hanumanthu was released. We see Hanumanthu cracking a joke on Nani's disastrous 'V'. The promo is themed after a 'Dad Jokes Battle' trend.
In the run-up to the release of 'Keedaa Cola', director Tharun Bhascker engaged Ragadi's Anil, a reviewer. The team of 'Sapta Saagaralu Dhaati - Side B' have also done something similar.
Things will see a dramatic turnaround in favour of YouTubers once an A-lister is interviewed. That's unlikely to happen in the short-term though.
Some YouTube channels are receiving deliberate support from Telugu heroes probably because the mainstream media has started boring them, occasionally putting them to inconvenience. Also, the audience have been inundated with a predictable set of questions even by the likes of Suma Kanakala. Even though YouTubers can ask unfavourable questions, some of them enjoy far greater reach than most web media houses.
