'Hi Nanna' is slated to hit the screens on December 7. The film's publicity campaign has seen Nani and Mrunal Thakur give interviews. Debutant director Shouryuv, too, has been interviewed by a few YouTube channels.
Nani has been sparing no effort to keep his film in the news cycle. He has tried to cash in on the election fever in a desperate attempt to keep the film in the news. The 'Shyam Singha Roy' actor will appear in a few videos seeking the vote and love of the audience members for 'Hi Nanna' on December 7.
While the election season justifies such a promotional campaign, the makers of 'Hi Nanna' must understand that the film's genre doesn't sit pretty with the election-themed videos. 'Hi Nanna' has been projected as a feel-good drama with rich emotions involving a father, his daughter and a woman. In contrast, the election-themed promotions sound tonally inconsistent. Unless the upcoming video clips are full of irresistible jokes, the campaign might backfire by creating a wrong set of expectations about 'Hi Nanna'.
