'Baby' is set to hit the screens on July 14. The Telugu-language romantic drama is about how a teen village girl's mindset undergoes a transformation once she moves to the city. On the college campus in the city, she gets used to a Westernized lifestyle under the influence of her new male friend.
She visits beauty parlours, starts enjoying in pubs and indulges in her boy bestie despite knowing that he is secretly in love with her. Meanwhile, her boyfriend in the village (who is now an autorickshaw driver) becomes insecure.
In a scene, Harsha Chemudu says that once our girlfriends move to the city, they don't belong to us anymore. Feminists are taking umbrage to such dialogues. "Just because a girl takes to a modern lifestyle, it doesn't mean that her boyfriend is justified in feeling insecure. Director Sai Rajesh's lines in the movie are misogynistic and normalize toxic mindsets among men," Netizens are arguing.
Starring Anand Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Viraj Ashwin in lead roles, the film is produced by SKN.
