Anand Deverakonda asks critics not to jump to premature conclusions

Actor Anand Deverakonda has reacted to some feminist and "Woke" takes about 'Baby' on social media. The teen romantic drama, staring him in the lead, is going to hit the screens on July 14.

Soon after the film's trailer was released on Friday, a Twitter user found fault with Vaishnavi Chaitanya's character coming with a brownface. The brownface is meant to show her as a deglam, unfashionable girl. That's not the actress' original colour.

"Even Fair & Lovely changed its name to Glow & Lovely after outrage, but we still see movies like 'Baby' doing brown face, white face in 2023. This is what happens when you make a YouTube short into a feature film," the Netizen wrote, criticizing the movie.

The 'Pushpaka Vimanam' actor described the tweet as a hot take that is needlessly Woke in nature. "Maybe you can watch the movie and then comment before jumping the gun," he added.

The film, co-starring Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Viraj Ashwin, is directed by Sai Rajesh.

'Baby' will hold pre-release premiers in Hyderabad and a few other cities in the Telugu States on July 13. The project was okayed before the pandemic. The makers are confident that it will stand out as one of the biggest story-based small movies of all time.
