Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Team Files Formal Cyber Crime Complaint in Hyderabad Over Targeted Smear Campaigns
Representatives of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna (the ‘Virosh’ team) have lodged a formal complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, calling for an immediate and thorough probe into coordinated misinformation campaigns, doctored digital media, and targeted online harassment targeting both actors.
The legal delegation physically submitted a detailed docket to cyber authorities containing URLs, digital records, and forensic screenshots documenting malicious content circulated across major social media networks.
Drawing the Line: Free Speech vs. Coordinated Defamation
In an official public communication, the legal and management representatives emphasized that this intervention is not intended to curb critical thought, subjective review, or fair comment. Instead, the action draws a distinct boundary where fabricated media is presented as verified reality.
"While we fully respect freedom of speech, individual opinions, and the right to express fair criticism, there is an unambiguous legal difference between holding an opinion and distributing fabricated, doctored, or materially deceptive allegations as factual truth," the statement noted.
Core Allegations Submitted to Authorities
The submitted dossier pinpoints several distinct categories of digital offenses:
-
Fabricated & Manipulated Media: Doctored imagery, fake chat transcripts, and altered video clips engineered to mislead.
-
Online Impersonation: Unverified accounts posing as official representatives, industry insiders, or the actors themselves.
-
Organized Trolling & Harassment: Coordinated posting spikes pointing toward sponsored or automated hit jobs designed to cause reputational injury.
The team has urged enforcement agencies to investigate whether financial transactions or coordinated networks sit behind the amplification loops. Every account involved in manufacturing, hosting, or knowingly republishing these materials will be scrutinized under applicable cyber and defamation laws.
The delegation closed with a plea for digital responsibility, asking netizens and independent creators to verify claims before resharing sensationalized speculation as established fact.
