Praneeth Hanumanthu, a young YouTuber from Hyderabad, was recently arrested for promoting pedophilic content on his YouTube channel. The filing of the FIR earlier this month came after actor Sai Dharam Tej drew the attention of concerned authorities to the objectionable comments tha sexualized a father-daughter duo's relationship. Three others have also been arrested for the controversial video.
The latest news is that Praneeth, who is under 14-day judicial custody and has been ldoged in the Chanchalguda Jail, has been found to have consumed drugs. The police have named him in a drug-related case as well. This is in addition to the cases he already faces under the IT Act and the POCSO Act.
The Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau was the first authority to arrest him.
The news about the drug consumption only compounds Praneeth's worries. He is the son of a senior IAS officer named H Arun Kumar. He was arrested last week in Bengaluru while allegedly trying to flee the country. Aye Jude, a famous YouTuber, is Praneeth's elder brother.
