Recently, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that his government will ask all actors who want increased ticket rates for their big-budget movies to put out a 2-minute public service announcement video raising awareness about the dangers associated with drug consumption and cyber crimes.
On Monday, while in Hyderabad to promote 'Indian 2', actor Siddharth suggested that actors have to be socially responsible on their own volition and out of their conscience.
"It was in 2005 that I did a condom PSA to promote safe sex practices. I was the first artist to support the cause. It was not imposed from the above. I did it because I felt I should do something useful," the 'Bommarillu' actor said. This can be deemed as an open disagreement with the Telangana government.
'Indian 2' has Siddharth in a lead role alongside Kamal Haasan. Also starring Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Suryah and Bobby Simha, the film is directed by Shankar. It will hit the screens on July 12. It is produced by Lyca Productions and has Asian-Suresh distributing it in the Telugu States.
