G. Niranjan, Senior Vice-President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and Chairman of the Election Commission Coordination Committee, issued a press note from Gandhi Bhavan, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of distorting history and misleading the public regarding the Congress party’s stance towards Pakistan.
Niranjan refuted Modi’s assertion that the Congress has been soft on Pakistan. He highlighted the Congress party’s significant role in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, supporting the Mukti Bahini in what he termed the 'Fiercest Battle,' which ultimately led to the creation of Bangladesh.
“Had Congress been soft towards Pakistan and not supported the Mukti Bahini, Bangladesh would not have been formed,” Niranjan stated.
