Mahabubnagar MLC elections counting deferred to June 2

Mahabubnagar MLC election counting which was supposed to happen on Tuesday, April 2 has been postponed by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Mahabubnagar MLC bye-election held on Thursday morning, March 28th, 2024.

The rationale behind the decision is that the MLC poll result might have an impact on the General election which is going to be held in the state on May 13. The ECI stated that in view of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in place for the Lok Sabha elections, the counting should be postponed as it could influence the Parliament elections. The counting now would take place on June 2, 2024.

Mahabubnagar MLC election saw an impressive turnout with approximately 99.86 percent of eligible voters exercising their votes. From ruling Congress party Manne Jeevan Reddy and from Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) N Naveen Reddy, and Sudershan Goud, an independent, are in foray for MLC election.
