Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, addressing a crowd in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, said that women from marginalized communities have never become Miss India.
"I checked the list of Miss India to see if there would be any Dalit or tribal woman in it, but there were no women from Dalit, tribal or OBC," the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said.
In another speech, he reiterated his party's stance on Caste Census. "Just as the Constitution guided us towards social justice, a comprehensive socio-economic Caste Census will be our guide today. It will help include the 90% in the nation's progress and realise the Constitution's promise," Rahul said.
On its part, the BJP has hit out at the PM aspirant. Dubbing RaGa a Balak Buddhi whose ideas are a "mix of Muslim League and Marxists", the BJP added that his ideas have the "potential to wreck not just India’s economy but also its social fabric." Amit Malviya of the BJP added, "If given a chance, his stupid and dangerous ideas will reduce India to Cuba or Venezuela. Just that we don’t have the kind of oil resources these countries had, so our decline will be swifter."
