Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday joined Jagan Mohan Reddy in New Delhi. As is known, the former CM of Andhra Pradesh is put up in the capital for the next three days. The YSRCP supremo is protesting the "political violence" in AP ever since the Chandrababu Naidu government took over the reins in June.
Akhilesh Yadav, who leads the Samajwadi Party, is one of the most important leaders of the INDIA bloc. His party, SP, registered a thumping victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections. In Uttar Pradesh, in alliance with the Congress party, the SP has emerged stronger in recent months. If it continues to grow, Yadav will become the next most important leader after Rahul Gandhi in the INDIA bloc.
Such a tall leader joining Jagan's protest today indicates that the YSRCP might be interested in joining the INDIA bloc. The party was neutral in the 2014, 2019 and 2024 elections. However, with political realities changing, Jagan might be thinking of becoming a part of the Opposition alliance.
