BIG! Mayawati hints at plans to break Muslim-Dalit consolidation

There are murmurs that the BJP will join hands with the BSP in Uttar Pradesh now that the Congress-SP duo has emerged as the biggest political group in India's most populous State. On Wednesday, a day after her party was routed in UP, Mayawati stated that her party would rethink about giving Muslims a representation in the future.

"We gave enough representation to Muslims in this General Election, much like in the previous elections. Yet, we did not get adequate support from the community. Therefore, from now onwards, we will only give them an opportunity only after thinking properly so that we don’t have to suffer losses in the future," the former CM of UP has been quoted as saying by ANI.

Her surprisingly unabashed comments have been welcomed by the online BJP gang. "The Narendra Modi government and the Yogi Adityanath administration have been given a raw deal by the Muslim voters despite them being accorded huge benefits through welfare schemes. With Mayawati on board, the BJP can do wonders in UP in the 2027 Assembly elections," a party supporter said.

Mayawati's political capital is limited. However, she continues to be very popular among Jatav Dalits. If she can assure her support base that she will extract its pound of flesh from the BJP government, things will flip drastically in UP.
