Hours before the counting, Congress MP candidate Manish Tewari on Monday night quoted Winston Churchill in an attempt to fire up the party's support base. "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; We shall never surrender," British PM Churchill said on June 4, 1940. Incidentally, June 4 is also the counting day.
Netizens reminded Tewari that Churchill was a mass murderer responsible for the death of millions of Indians during the colonial era. Moreover, Churchill was talking about an invading army and not political opponents. On the other hand, Tewari is talking against the BJP, his party's chief opponent, in a democratic setting.
By the hour, the fear that the Congress party is planning to launch violent protests in Delhi is only growing. "Is he hinting at the Congress inciting violence on the counting day at every possible place in India? It's better for them to introspect instead of trying to provide people. It won't end well if the BJP starts defending people's properties," wrote a Netizen.
