All the while, the BJP outfit used to proudly claim that they would sweep 400+ seats in the coming general election across India. But now, Amit Shah, the main man of BJP has come down to a realistic number.
After all the talk of 400 MPs Amit Shah has been far more realistic when he says BJP is ‘somewhere between 300 and 310. The BJP was always realistically aiming for 300 plus. If they achieve it after 10 years in power, that will be a huge achievement.
For the opposition, the challenge has been to bring down the BJP ‘below 250’ (below 220 would open up post poll possibilities) While the opposition in several states has undoubtedly made the election far more competitive than it appeared just 2 months ago, BJP remains in pole position. UP, Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka and Maharashtra will hold the key to the final numbers.
The alliance with Telugu Desam in AP might also haunt the BJP camp big time as the two parties fought mercilessly in 2019 and called each other names. This takes away whatever credence the two parties had in collation in AP.
