The other day, The Wire published an article that claimed that as many as 20 crore fewer people voted in the first five phases of 2024 compared with the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The claim is absolutely false. If anything, more people voted in this election.
Even a Class 10 student would know additions and subtractions. Why did Wire publish an article that is blatantly misleading and patently false?
As per the Hindutva wing, a conspiracy is being hatched to discredit Narendra Modi's victory. "They are preparing the ground to make it look like the BJP and the Election Commission have been in cahoots with each other. They will say that fewer votes were cast but the EC data was fraudulently revised to add votes to the BJP. They will try to get the international media, especially those from the US, to amplify the voices that delegitimize the election. They will come out on the streets and will start doing protests for a few days. If the authorities jail them, they will decry Hindutva 'fascism'," a Netizen lamented.
"The EC must crack the whip on Leftist propagandists. They are here to sow the seeds of suspicion and erode democracy," a BJP supporter wrote.
