As per online BJP supporters backed by several pro-Modi social media influencers close to the Delhi establishment, the mood in Telangana and Odisha has turned a great deal in the last few weeks. Together, these two States account for 36 Lok Sabha seats.
A perception has been created among a section of BJP voters that a vote for Modi in Telangana this time will be a national talking point. Last time, BJP won 4 LS seats and it was inconsequential in the larger scheme of things. This time, winning even 10 LS seats won't be unexpected despite the Congress party being the ruling entity. This will happen only if the BRS vote collapses more than expected. In a recent NTV interview, Narendra Modi exuded confidence that his party will have a landslide in Telangana. There is a talk that the Modi-Shah duo believe that the BJP will win 13 LS seats.
In Odisha, the ruling BJD is said to have weakened considerably. Naveen Patnaik, the most popular regional leader in the State, hasn't been seen much around. The campaign has been taken care of by VK Pandian, formerly a bureaucrat. The Congress party has completely collapsed. In this scenario, Modi's popularity has surged by leaps and bounds. The PM also believes that the BJP will win the State Assembly election as well. If this happens, it will be nothing less than a saffron Tsunami of sorts on June 4, the results day.
