On Friday, April 19, 2024, the Election Commission of India announced that it has seen a high turn out of voters in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections despite the heat wave in various states.
It further added that the polling is largely peaceful across the 21 states and Union Territories that went for polling on Friday. ECI said that polling was complete for 10 states and Union territories, including most of the northeast.
In the phase 1, elections were held for 102 Lok Sabha seats in which 16.63 crore voters have casted their votes in 1.87 lakh polling stations with 18 lakh personnel performing their duties.
