Truth about top pollster deleting tweet about BJP 'losing' this election

Axis My India's Pradeep Gupta is the most respected pollster in the country. His agency has done Exit Polls for India Today for the past many years. Most of the Exit Polls done by the agency have aligned with the final result, barring a few high-profile mishaps.

On Thursday, something interesting happened. On Twitter, he shared an article that says that the BJP faces an uphill task in 13 States where it delivered a supreme performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He deleted the tweet a few minutes later.

This made many pro-Congress handles say that the pollster believes that the NDA is losing this election. "The article was removed so that the BJP doesn't feel the heat. This is how Godi Media behaves," a tweet claimed.

The truth of the matter is that the article that Pradeep Gupta had plugged hasn't been taken down by the publication. Gupta deleted the tweet because the headline was clickbait-y in nature.

In the 13 States where BJP had a terrific strike rate in 2019, the party of course faces an uphill task of improving its tally. The article's context was that NDA is looking at crossing 400 seats. It's an uphill task to improve upon an already terrific performance.

The results of the 2024 elections will be out on June 4. Axis My India's Exit Poll results will be out on the evening of June 1.
