If you are into learning from lifestyle coaches, you must have heard about the Indian-origin American podcaster and author Jay Shetty, who enjoys the admiration of millions of followers on Instagram and YouTube. A recent report published by Guardian says that Jay Shetty lied that he was a monk for three years at an Indian temple.
Following the report, Shetty has become a much-Googled person. Sections of the media are running bulletins on him. "Monk turned author and lifestyle coach Jay Shetty has come under the scanner for lying about his past and plagiarism. Has he been running a business of lies?" asked WION.
As per the report that triggered the whole interest in Shetty, he was never a monk. However, his followers find the revelation irrelevant.
Among others, senior journalist Smita Prakash has given her two cents about the controversy. "I have heard a few of Jay Shetty's podcasts, the pop psychology, the secular spiritualism, hints at Krishna consciousness, and his soothing manner of speaking. Can quite understand the mass following. Whether he wore sweatpants and not robes when he was a monk is frankly inconsequential. Hope Shetty speaks out about these accusations," she wrote.
