Rameshwaram Cafe blast: High alert announced in Hyderabad

It is known that, on Friday, Bengaluru's famous eatery Rameshwaram Cafe witnessed a low-intensity blast that injured a handful of customers. At first, it was assumed to be the case of a cylinder blast. Hours after the shocking incident, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah appeared before the media and confirmed that the blast was caused by a "low-intensity improvised explosive device".

In the wake of the development, a high alert has been announced in Hyderabad. Vigil has been stepped up by the police across crowded areas.

Commissioner of Police Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy reportedly asked the police department to stay on alert.

The Bengaluru blast has sent shock waves across the nation. It's a case of intelligence failure at a time when the country is preparing for a nationwide election. Public is advised to stay vigil.

The Karnataka government is trying its best to put the record straight. "Claims have been made that an IED was placed but we are yet to get official confirmation. The home department will give official information. I will not speculate," the Home Minister of the State has been quoted as saying.
