The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), which is a tennis ball T10 cricket event, will be held from March 2 to March 9, 2024. There will be nineteen matches in total. So far, five cinema stars have announced the ownership of different teams. Here are the deets:
Akshay Kumar: Team Srinagar
Amitabh Bachchan: Team Mumbai
Suriya: Team Chennai
Ram Charan: Team Hyderabad
Hrithik Roshan: Bengaluru
Sharing the news about coming onboard for ISPL, Akshay Kumar recently wrote, "From cinema to the stadium! Proud to announce that I will be coming to @ispl_t10 as a Team Owner of Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) A chance to play in my team awaits."
The idea is to encourage wannabe cricketers who don't have access to the cricket establishment. The ISPL is meant to be a talent-spotting tournament. If the first edition becomes successful, more will follow. The team owners might change.
Although the league is not likely to be profitable, cinema stars view it as an opportunity to generate goodwill and image for themselves.
