The food aggregator app Swiggy today revealed some exciting stats related to the year 2023. The report said that a customer from Mumbai placed food orders worth Rs 42.3 lakh. Yes, you read it right!
This particular stat has stunned social media. A doctor wondered if it was corporate booking. Another Netizen opined that the Income Tax Department should extract the customer's details from Swiggy and launch an investigation. "This can't be taken lightly," he quipped. But he has a point. There has to be a corresponding declaration of wealth by the assessee. Otherwise, there is something fishy for sure.
A customer from Hyderabad ordered 1,633 biryanis this year. This is another stat that has made many suspend their disbelief. Was it a restaurant ordering from other restaurants in case there was a shortage? Well, you never know.
Biryani was the most-ordered dish for the eighth year in a row, the report added. Every second, 2.5 biryanis were ordered this year by Indians. Since biryani is synonymous with chicken biryani, for every 5.5 chicken biryanis, there was one veg biryani that was ordered.
"One family in Chandigarh ordered 70 plates in a single go during India Vs Pak World Cup match in October," the report says.
