On Monday, the official Twitter handle of the BJP (commanding 21 million followers) put out an image implying that Narendra Modi is nothing less than God himself! A religious chant accompanied the image.
Netizens have been trolling the BJP IT cell, arguing that the culture of sycophancy in the ruling party has reached "nauseating levels". The personality cult has been called out, lock, stock and barrel. "Absolute clueless morons taking vyakti-pooja to abysmal depths. Delete it pronto," wrote Kartik Sivaraman, asking the BJP handle to remove the unacceptable tweet.
"Nobody should be treated as God. The sycophancy level is exceeding beyond imagination. The same BJP blames Congress leaders for sucking up to the Gandhis and now they are doing the exact same thing one step ahead," lamented another furious Netizen. "The insensitive photo op we saw in UP with a Braveheart's family recently is a direct consequence of such a deification culture. This is not just wrong but also patently un-Hindu. This rot has already set in very deeply and those who are to follow, don't even have substance," wrote Raghava Krishna.
