Video: Modi's 'PR stunt' with Mohammad Shami

It is known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was there in the dressing room of Team India after the battering in the World Cup Final on Sunday. On Monday, bowler Mohammad Shami shared a pic of himself being consoled by the PM. On Tuesday, the full video of Modi in the dressing room was released.

In the video, Modi consoling Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma appeared undramatic. It was natural and sans any drama.

However, as Modi approached Shami, a degree of fakeness crept in. Shami shook his hand and was not seeking the PM's shoulders to cry on. But Modi pulled the bowler's head toward him.

As per many Netizens, that was an attempt to do a publicity stunt. "In this cringe PR video that has been released to the media, you can see Shami was standing and shook hand but Modi pulled him to his shoulders to give the impression of consoling a crying person while cameras clicked still photos for PR distribution," wrote Joy Das on Twitter.

Modi should have avoided it, especially when Team India was still going through a painful phase.
