ICC Men's Cricket World Cup: Shahid Afridi blasts Babar Azam

In the wake of rumours that Babar Azam will soon step down as the captain of the Pakistan Cricket team, former Pak player Shahid Afridi today blasted him for not showing leadership qualities. "Azam was given four full years to prove himself as the skipper. Yet, he failed to make the cut. Babar lacks qualities of leaders like Younis Khan who knew how to utilize other players in the team," Afridi has been quoted as saying.

Surprisingly, years ago, Afridi was the one who opposed Younis Khan's leadership. "Afridi led the revolt against Khan by making about nine other teammates swear on the Quran to not play under him. The Quran itself was Younis’," wrote Venkatramana Reddy, a cricket buff. "No matter what happens, there won't ever be a bigger and more venomous cricket snake than Afridi ever. He has only one aim these days - to see his son-in-law Shaheen Shah as the captain," wrote a Twitter user.

Azam, cricket buffs are saying, is not that bad. "Fair enough to say when you come to India with your spinners not firing, it’s hard to blame the captain. Didn’t Pakistan make the T20 World Cup finals under Babar Azam?" wrote a sports enthusiast.
