Saturday's World Cup match between India and Pakistan will be remembered for how harshly the rival team was humiliated by Team India. For hundreds of the spectators and their family members, though, the match will also be remembered for the medical emergencies they had to endure.
As per Ahmedabad Mirror, a sweltering temperature of more than 35 degrees took its toll on as many as 570 individuals. Most of them complained of dehydration, fainting, terrible weakness, trembling, or severe headaches during the match.
Ambulance services were kept ready in anticipation of emergencies. The stadium staff was alert and helped the ambulance staff in ferrying the spectators out of the stadium to the nearest hospitals. Many of them needed only Outpatient services, while some were hospitalized.
The nature of the medical emergencies goes to show that the weather was extremely humid on the day. Spectators had travelled from different parts of India to be there at the stadium to witness the hyped-up match.
