The Board of Control for Cricket in India today said that Shubman Gill will not be travelling with Team India to Delhi on October 9 for the upcoming fixture against Afghanistan as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
"He will stay back in Chennai. He won't play the match to be held on October 11. Medical experts are supervising his health," the BCCI said. As is known, Gill has been diagnosed with Dengue. It has to be seen how many days he will require to achieve fitness.
On Sunday, India registered a victory against Australia after having a deeply troubling start. India's score was 2/3 when Virat Kohli and KL Rahul saved it from disaster. The target of reaching 200 runs was achieved in 41 overs. Until the Kohli-Rahul duo was saving India, everyone missed Gill's opening stint. Had he been the opener, the initial trouble might have been averted, cricket lovers wrote on social media.
