Big! Mayawati rules out alliance with Congress or BJP

For the past few days, it has been rumoured even by national media reports that Congress is interested in entering into an alliance with the BSP. A Congress-BJP-SP alliance in Uttar Pradesh would make it tough for the saffron party. On Wednesday, BSP chief Mayawati took to social media and condemned the rumour in unambiguous terms.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that both the BJP-led NDA and and the Congress-led INDIA are alliances comprising of parties that are "anti-poor, casteist, communal, and pro-rich". She added that their ideologies are against the BSP's policies. "So, there is no question of contesting the election by forging an alliance with them," she added.

She said that her party, like in 2007, will single-handedly contest the next general elections and four state Assemblies (MP, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan and Telangana) by connecting crores of marginalized sections of society on the basis of mutual brotherhood, not political manipulation.

If the BSP contests the 2024 Lok Sabha election separately, the party will probably win zero seats. Last time, in 2019, it contested in alliance with the SP and won five seats. The SP, led by Akhilesh Yadav, is said to be regretting the decision to ally with the BSP.
