Legendary actor Rajinikanth today called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the latter's residence in Lucknow. As soon as he reached the doorsteps of the BJP leader's residence, the 'Kabali' and 'Kaala' actor bowed down and touched his feet.
The video clip showing the same has gone viral. And Rajini's courteous gesture has expectedly sparked a row. Political critics are arguing that the 'Jailer' actor is simply trying to pamper the ruling party for some alleged personal benefit. There is also the contention that Rajini is 20 years older than Yogi and thus, he shouldn't have bowed down.
But the age gap is irrelevant, opine those who hold the Dharmic view that saints (Yogi is the head priest of the Goraknath Math in UP) are higher beings compared to those who live materialistic lives. "Thalaivar (Rajini's moniker) doesn't merely pretend to be Hindu. He is a true Hindu at heart. That's why, despite the ignorance of some, he understands the respect due to a sanyasin. And that's why he pays his obeisance to the Mahant of Gorakhnath Mutt, even though the Mahant is 20 years his junior," a Twitter user wrote.
