BJP MP Rajyavardhan Rathore, who represents the Jaipur Rural constituency in the Lok Sabha, today alleged that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with the Communist Party of China's officials in 2008 during the Beijing Olympics. He added that the two Congress leaders must be tried for treason.
"I was at the 2008 Beijing Olympics when we came to know that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were coming to meet us. Contrary to what we were told, they didn't come to meet us. We later learned that they were there to meet some officials from the Communist Party of China," the BJP MP said.
Rathore, who is an Olympic medallist, former shooting athlete and retired Indian Army officer, made the explosive demand that the towering Congress leaders must be punished for being "disloyal" to India.
His remarks are sure to raise a storm. Many will ask why the Narendra Modi government, which has been in power since 2014, has never investigated such matters if it is true that the Congress leaders have always been in touch with CCP. In recent years, BJP spokespersons and online sympathizers have accused Rahul Gandhi of toeing the China line on several issues like the Doklam crisis.
