INDIA is the name of the Opposition alliance pitting itself against the NDA ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The name stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.
As many as 26 parties, not necessarily led by Congress, have come together to form the alliance. 'Team INDIA vs Team NDA' is going to be the slogan of the alliance. The Opposition wants to project Narendra Modi as standing against 'INDIA'.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that it is a great achievement for them that 26 like-minded parties have come together. The next opposition meeting will be held in Mumbai, he added. "For campaign management, a secretariat will also be set up in Delhi. We have gathered here to save our Democracy and the Constitution. This is a collective fight against unemployment, inflation and other key issues that the country is dealing with," he said today.
It has to be seen how the BJP is going to counter this. The ruling party will have to come up with something interesting to counter the narrative that the Opposition represents the spirit of India by naming itself as INDIA.
