Indian scientist fell for a Pakistani female spy, shared secrets: Reports

In a surprising turn of events, it has come to light that a DRDO scientist, Pradeep Kurulkar, has allegedly disclosed sensitive information regarding India's confidential systems to an individual posing as an ordinary woman named Zara Dasgupta, suspected to be a Pakistani spy.

As per reports, the scientist was honey-trapped by the woman. "He was attracted to the Pakistani Intelligence Operative. After developing rapport with her online, he chatted with her about Indian missile systems. The scientist, out of naivete, also shared classified defence projects with her," a report suggested. The scientist is now under the radar of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Maharashtra police.

The ATS has found that the woman in question described herself as a software engineer. The scientist believed it to be true.

An analyst with a deep understanding of how the Indian agencies operate is saying that India could be playing a game here. "I will quote the best case scenario that may or may not be true. We caught the scientist years back, were feeding back fake intel to Pakistan's ISI, and now blowing this up to preserve the impression with Pak that they really have useful intel. The peak best-case, which means it's not close to being true," wrote columnist Somnath Mukherjee.

But, if we have to think of a pessimistic scenario, Pakistan has got valuable intel info about our missile and defence systems due to the scientist's unpardonable blunder.
