Amitabh Kant, the former CEO of Niti Aayog and India's G20 Sherpa, underlined the importance of the southern states in the country's desire to expand to a $5 trillion economy during his speech at the India Today Conclave South 2023.
He had nothing but appreciation for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He claimed that Telangana has succeeded in the pharmaceutical industry and that between 35 and 40% of all pharmaceutical items in India are produced there.
Additionally, he discussed how Andhra Pradesh, which has achieved great success in the industrial and pharmaceutical sectors, is now poised for rapid expansion in the fields of renewable and green energy.
“The quality of life and social indicators for health, education, and nutrition have all been quite high in southern states since they have actually shown exceptional work and human development indices. They have been far ahead of the rest of India," he remarked.
