As the MLC elections approach, it is being reported that the names of prominent leaders from different social groups and districts are nearing confirmation. During the MLC term's conclusion, former Kapu leader and employee union head, Paruchuri Ashok Babu, is set to vacate his seat, and the names of TDP's Vangaveti Radha Krishna, the son of the late Vangaveti Mohan Ranga, and Janasena's Nagendra Babu are being heavily speculated for nomination in his place.
If both individuals are allotted the positions, it is expected that the seat formerly held by BC leader B.T. Naidu, whose term has ended, will also be filled by a new face in the political landscape. It seems TDP is contemplating another BC leader for this seat, as Y. Ramakrishna, the current BC representative, has already secured a position in the Assembly and Cabinet.
There is also growing demand within the party ranks to provide opportunities to fresh candidates, rather than re-nominating previous MLCs. Another TDP leader, BC representative Duvvarapu Ramarao, is expected to vacate his position. Since he has already secured a place in the Legislative Assembly, TDP is looking to honor its promise of allotting the MLC seat to another BC leader from the same community.
TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu had earlier pledged that the first MLC seat for the party would go to Dr. Kommala Pati, a former MLA from Pedakurapadu, who worked diligently in securing the victory of seven assembly seats in the district. His efforts have helped the party, and his nomination for the MLC seat has now been confirmed, ensuring Naidu’s promise remains intact.
In the current council, the Kshatriya social group is expected to be represented by MLC Pakalapati Raghavarma, who served previously. He will continue to represent this group in the present council as well.
Finally, the second MLC seat in Naidu’s election promise is set to go to TDP leader S.V.S. Varma from Pithapuram. Therefore, the MLC nominations are almost finalized with Dr. Kommala Pati, Pithapuram Varma, and Konidela Nagababu set to be officially nominated.
